Updated:

Like many ponds the one at the Baxter Springs Country Club Golf Course dried up from the drought.

So they decided to dig it up and get our the golf balls.

Russell Hurt helped dig up the pond and says they found 4,000 golf balls.  He says he will donate the golf balls to charity because he already has plenty at home.

"They are not going to do me any good," says Hurt.  "I probably have a thousand good ones myself."

Hurt started his career in golf as a caddy when he was six years old.
