The Greater Joplin Toastmasters club cut a ribbon today to celebrate an accomplishment.
For the first time ever it's achieved "President's Distinguished Club" status.
It had to meet at least 9 of the 10 goals set by Toastmasters International, such as increasing membership, officer training and different leadership and speaking projects by club members.
"We were working for the award since the last season started and it's a year long process, and they do 10 different goals, a combination of individual goals and club goals all getting met," says William Crane, the President of the Great Joplin Toastmasters.
About 1/3 of the Toastmasters clubs worldwide achieve this status, but most of those have clubs that are larger than the one in Joplin.
