The sixth annual Hope 4 You Pink Ribbon Bagel campaign kickoff celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony was held at Panera in Joplin today.
It's an effort to raise awareness for breast cancer during October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Joplin Panera donated 10% of all sales today to the Hope 4 You Foundation.
And although you don't just have to buy a bagel for the store to donate to the foundation, they sell a lot of bagels.
"We have overwhelmed their bakers here in the Joplin store, we probably sell more bagels than any other store," says Kim Sanders of Hope 4 You. "Our largest year was over 18,000 bagels."
Last year the Hope 4 You Foundation lost one of their own to breast cancer. Sarah Burkybile was a member of the organization and passed away last month.
October 12 at Panera has been declared Sarah Burkybile Day.
