A successful program designed by a Pittsburg State student and used by the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce will now be used by its Joplin counterpart. RED, or Real-time Events Delivered, allows users to sign up for emails or text messages that notify them of upcoming events. Patrick Stoddart created the system when he was 16, it was first used by the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce but has since been implemented by schools, churches and athletic leagues. The Joplin Chamber says it will use the messages to get the word out about what their group has to offer member businesses.
