Updated:

The Missouri Superintendent of the year is Joplin School's own CJ Huff.   The Missouri Association of School Administrators or MASA announced the award Saturday night during a conference at Tan-Tar-A resort.

Dr. Huff was recognized for his efforts to get school started on time after the tornado,  and also for the Bright Futures program begun before the tornado to meet the basic needs of any student within 24 hours.

Dr. Huff says, "The best thing about the award is that it has all of us in it."  He says, "Its what we did together for our kids that has captured people's hearts."  He believes,  "It's the states way of thanking us for a job well done."
Huff receives an award and a  commemorative ring along with a $500 dollar scholarship for a student in the Joplin school district.
