Animal Blessing in Pittsburg

The South East Kansas Humane Society hosts the Blessing of Animals to honor St. Francis of Assisi. The Saint is the patron of animals and the celebration aims to recognize the value of animals in our lives.

Reverend Tom Wehman from St. John's Lutheran Church came to bless the S.E.K. Humane Society pets.

Members of the community were also invited to bring their animals.

"It's a chance to get all of the animals together and get a blessing on them, so they're safe and healthy all year long, and we enjoy meeting different people and their pets" says Joanne Wenzl.

The Humane Society says the annual event is an opportunity to bring the community together and to raise awareness about their cause.
