The Delaware Duplex Project in Joplin held a ribbon cutting and open house on Tuesday.
Delaware Duplex is the first project approved by the Missouri Housing Development Commission in Joplin since last year's tornado.
There are 10 duplexes that replace similar ones destroyed by the tornado.
Many Missouri lawmakers attended the event, including Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder, who says projects like these are key to Joplin's recovery.
"Folks have been dispersed in all four directions, now they can come back to the neighborhoods they lived in before in these beautiful, new, very livable duplexes," says Kinder. "You just can't overestimate the importance of this."
