Missouri Governor Jay Nixon received a tour today of the new Gary and Donna Hall Tower at Freeman Hospital West.
The $8 million project is located on the sixth floor of the hospital and will open later this month.
The facility is 24,000 square feet with 29 private rooms and 70 newly hired nurses.
Governor Nixon says the new addition is state-of-the-art.
"There is no facility anywhere in America that has any more amenities here, no place that is going to be safer, no place with less potential for infection, and when you see state of the art, as good as anywhere in the world right here in Joplin, Missouri it continues to add to a strength of Freeman," says Nixon.
The floor is also equipped with a new nurse call system and a new security system.
