Bras for a Cause event is underway

Updated: Oct 18, 2012 05:31 PM

The annual Bras for a Cause event is underway at Upstairs Boutique in Joplin.

Residents are invited to decorate bra's and enter them into a contest for $10.  The bra's will then be voted on for $1 per vote and some of the top vote getters will be featured on the Bra's for a Cause calendar.

Proceeds from the event go to the Hope 4 You Breast Cancer Foundation.

"We got involved in this to create a lot of awareness for breast cancer," says Deb Allison of Upstairs Boutique.  "A lot of our customers have had breast cancer.  We have family members who've had or are going through breast cancer as well.  So on top of raising funds we want to create that awareness and education."

Voting started at 5 p.m. today and continues through October 30.
