Newton County man accused of killing his brother-in-law pleads guilty

Terry Smith pled guilty today to second degree murder and was sentenced to 20 years in prison according to the prosecuting attorney.

The shooting happened in December of 2010.

Sheriff's deputies say the victim's wife - Smith's sister - made the call to the Newton County sheriff's office.

Deputies found Steven Gunn, 44, shot to death on the floor.

Authorities say the shooting occurred over an argument.
