
The Joplin Social Security Office will be closing earlier everyday starting November 19.
The office will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., 30 minutes earlier than normal.
The office will also be closing at 12 p.m. on Wednesday's starting January 2.
Officials say the reduced budget provided by Congress makes it impossible for the agency to provide overtime needed to handle services to the public.
They say this shorter public window will allow them to complete those services without needing overtime.
