Joplin Tornado Survivors Help Sandy Survivors

Updated:

Folks in Joplin know all too well how donations can make a difference after a weather disaster.

Bag after bag residents unload clothes, books and non-perishable food items to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The Southwest Missouri Fraternal Order of Police partnered with Qdoba Mexican Grill and R&R Trucking to organize the relief efforts.

Organizers say the 18 wheeler will take off for the east coast as soon as it is full of goods.

Residents who donated say they are returning the favor to those from the east cost who helped them get back on their feet after the tornado.

"Well it happened to us and specifically it happened to me and those folks helped me out when I was down and hurting and needing and now its our turn to do back the favor for them" says F.O.P. Lodge 27 President Chris Carriger.

The truck will be delivered to the New York State Police where they will distribute and deliver the items to those in need.

The truck is on the Qdoba parking lot in Joplin, accepting donations until 8:00PM Saturday night.
