New York Veteran's Come to Joplin

Updated:

Veteran's from the east coast trek 1,300 miles to spend the day in Joplin.

Eleven veterans from Mahopack, New York, spend their veterans day grilling hot dogs and hamburgers to serve Joplin vets.

The crew first made the trip to Joplin to assist with tornado relief efforts and say they wanted to lend a helping hand again.

As many enjoyed the live music, one Vietnam veteran says he is glad he can serve his fellow service men.

"It really wasn't about what I did before its what I do now and that's very important to me to make sure I leave a little something behind before I go myself so that's really why I do all of this" says Veteran Joe Toleno.

The New York crew gave Post 13 of Joplin a brand new grill to use for future cook outs.
