Students in southeast Kansas exchange everything from music tips to fun facts with friends in Russia as part of a cultural exchange.
It is the first year students at Erie High School have teamed up with a classroom across the globe.
The classes between Erie and Surgut, Russia were connected through a school mentor.
Students have also set up an open Facebook page and blog to communicate with their Russian peers.
"We're pretty similar, the way we dress and stuff, I think is pretty similar, and our sports are pretty similar, other than the hockey and the ice skating, and I think both of us just interact with each other, because both of us know English - it just seems like normal," says student Madison Steenrod.
Erie High School says it is a cultural exchange they hope to continue and hopes it helps students get interested in current issues.
