Gilbert father and son pen narrative of facing a vicious illness, drawing closer to God

Maitland, FL (PRWEB) November 17, 2012

In John Stuart Gilbert and Bruce Stuart Gilbert’s new book, From Eden To Paradise ($22.99, paperback, 978-1-62419-286-9; $9.99, e-book, 978-1-62419-287-6) readers will undoubtedly be inspired. Bruce Stuart Gilbert expresses “‘From Eden To Paradise’ is about hope and perspective offered to those who know both disease and aloneness in all their forms, and to those who desperately love the many in our midst who are seemingly ‘among the least of these.’” The co-authors’ mission is that value will be found in John’s story and his father’s reflections.

“‘From Eden To Paradise’ is not seven-steps to anything. It is simply the honest account from a dying boy of living life well in the Kingdom that has come near,” states the author. “This is the story of two people—son and father—who shared the same challenge from different perspectives, both falling more in love with God in the process.”

John Gilbert was born in Eden Hospital. Diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy at age five, John served as MDA’s 1985 Good Will Ambassador in California. An honor student at Paradise High School and Chico State University, John died in his home in Paradise, CA. He loved God dearly. Bruce Gilbert is husband to Cathy, father to John, Alan and his bride Paige, and grandfather to Sydney. In the wake of John’s death, Bruce graduated from Multnomah Biblical Seminary in 2009. Bruce and Cathy currently serve as missionaries with Cadence International.
