Holiday Auction raises money for M.S.S.U. Scholarship Fund

Updated:

Members of the American Association of University Women host the 5th annual holiday auction.

More than twenty people had their eyes on an auction item or two, those were donated by local restaurants and families. Money raised from the auction is used to sponsor an M.S.S.U. student with a full year scholarship. One year at the college costs around $4,000.

The president of the organization says education is the key to a bright future.

"Some women would not be able to finish their college career and go on to what they want to do...become a teacher or whatever career they want to go into engineering mathematics whatever they want to do so makes the difference for that woman for her being able to finish her career" says A.A.U.W. President Marj Boudreaux.

Members say the holiday auction is the biggest fundraiser for the scholarship fund.
