Gingerbread Competition held at Pittsburg State

Updated:

Pittsburg State University judged it's fourth annual Gingerbread Competition today in it's student center.

From sour patch roofs to melted candy lakes, the surrounding PSU community pulled out all the stops for this years competition.

There were 10 more entries this year than last year in it's three categories which are youth, adult and family.

The event is put on by PSU Alumni Services, who say it is a great way to bring in the holiday season while also involving the surround community with school activities.

"A gingerbread house, it's something we always see, but not necessarily what families do, so it gives them an opportunity to make a gingerbread house together as a family and to have youth and kids do a gingerbread house by themselves and it's open to PSU organizations as well and yeah, it's just a lot of fun," says Meagan Swafford, Assistant Director of PSU Alumni Services.

Voting lasted from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the PSU student center with a winner from each category as well as an over all winner for best house.
