
The American Red Cross Center in Pittsburg has been collecting holiday cards from residents to send to military troops for the holidays.
Today the Center collected hundreds of letters from the Pittsburg State campus and began sorting and screening the letters to be delivered to our troops.
It's part of the Holiday Mail for Heroes project by the American Red Cross, giving soldiers letters from residents of Thanksgiving and appreciation for their service.
"Everyone benefits from it," says Lindsey Greve, a PSU student volunteer. "It's showing that you're supportive and caring of the people who do this service, and it's just showing PSU's support by becoming more involved and students being involved with it."
The deadline to give a letter to the local Red Cross office has passed but you can still mail a letter to Holiday Mail for Heroes to the address below. It must arrive by December 7 to be eligible for distribution:
