A Joplin non profit is in the running to win a million dollars for the American Giving Awards. Art Feeds helps promotes creative healing and encourages kids to express themselves through art. The program goes to many four state area schools and reaches about five thousand students weekly.
Intern Kailey Schellack says it costs Art Feeds a dollar per lesson per child and that setting up a booth at North Park Mall in Joplin was a great way to get others to vote.
"We have had a lot of people come just having all of this stuff up, having face painting and all of the computers people are just really interested in it and trying to come over and see what it is and so we're able to tell them about it and how easy it is to vote so that's how we've been getting a lot of our votes" says Schellack.
Voting ends December 4th.
The American Giving Awards will air Saturday.
