The Northeast Oklahoma Caregiver Coalition spread a little Christmas cheer today. The coalition held its annual Caregiver Christmas Conference at the historic Coleman Theater in Miami.
The event was free to caregivers and their loved ones. It featured speakers, food, and free respite care.
Organizers say they just want to make sure caregivers know they are appreciated.
"Around Thanksgiving and Christmas is the time that we all look at our families and give thanks for what we have and a lot of times, in a caregiver role, they don't get a thank you, they don't have the opportunity to receive that thank you," says organizer Devon Murray. "So we want to take this opportunity to thank them on behalf of their loved ones and show them how much they really are appreciated."
The Northeast Oklahoma Caregiver Coalition consists of many organizations that serve older adults and their families in Ottawa County.
