Gas falls below $3 in some parts of Southwest Missouri

Updated:

Missouri has the lowest average gas prices in the nation.  That's according to AAA.

The average across Missouri is $3.11.  In Southwest Missouri, prices are as low as $2.96 a gallon.

Four State residents topping off their car's tank today say the low prices are more than welcome.

"We drive a big van and so we just burn through gas," says Oronogo resident Emily Yorke.  "We probably spend $1,000 a month in gas and so I called my mom just to tell her that gas was under $3 this morning."

The highest gas prices in the country this week are in Hawaii, where a regular unleaded gallon of gas costs an average of $4.04.
