Firefighters collect $1,200 for kids

Updated:

From the City of Neosho, Missouri:

Firefighters from Neosho and other participating area departments collected $1,214.20 in monetary donations, and more than 150 toy items, Saturday, Dec. 8 during the Newton County Christmas for Kids toy drive.

The event was held at Neosho Walmart Supercenter.

Another toy drive is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at Lowe's Home Improvement Center, 1490 Clemon Dr., in Neosho.

The program helped more than 600 children in the Newton County community last year, and expectations are for the same number of kids this year.

Everyone is invited out on Saturday to give a donation and see the fire truck fill up with toys to make this a Merry Christmas for the less fortunate in the community.

For more information, please call the Neosho Fire Department at 451-8021.
