A Carthage trucking company gets a pat on the back for its energy efficiency.
Thermo-King presented D & D Sexton with the Energy Efficient Leader Award for finding solutions that reduce idle time, save fuel and increase overall energy efficiency.
The company installed power units in all their refrigerated transport units which will reduce idling time from 70% to 10%. It's also cutting fuel costs by 15% using a web-based asset management system.
"Anything we can do, or Dean Sexton in this case can do to reduce his fuel consumption helps the environment, helps our natural resources, and obviously for him as a company reduces his cost," says Wayne Smith, the CEO of Thermo-King of Springfield.
D & D Sexton has completed these upgrade to 80% of its fleet and plans to upgrade the rest of the fleet later next year.
