Kansas Board of Education supports teaching cursive handwriting

Teaching cursive handwriting is getting support from the Kansas Board of Education.

The Board adopted a statement encouraging teachers to ensure students can write legibly and read cursive writing.  The Board also ordered the Kansas Education Department to develop model cursive standards.

A survey says most Kansas schools are still teaching handwriting but nearly a quarter of districts no longer consider it a high priority.
