Fallen soldiers are remembered during the holiday season by Wreaths Across America.
Area veterans and military groups in Webb City join in a national event to honor soldiers across the four states.
Eighteen wreaths were laid at Mount Hope Cemetery in Webb City after a ceremony at the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier.
That number is down from more than 100 wreaths laid in last year.
Local groups have participated for the past five years and like showing support for fallen veterans.
"we hope to get to the hundred to two hundred range, and it's also a fundraising opportunity for us, when we sell a wreath for 15, we get five dollars back" says Jared Horn, Civil Air Patrol's public affairs officer.
The money made by the Civil Air Patrol from its participation in the event goes toward teaching aero space education, or into a travel fund, for the civil air patrol cadets.
