On a scale from "Poor" to "Excellent", McDonald County, Missouri receives a "Poor" rating by the state auditor's office.
State auditor Tom Schweich's office set up a temporary office in Pineville between May and July of this year, focusing on the 2010 and 2011 fiscal years.
The audit cites inadequate accounting procedures in the prosecuting attorney's office, sheriff's office and the county clerks office. It also states the county commission and clerk did not provide proper over site.
McDonald County prosecuting attorney Jonathan Pierce says his office has worked to fix it's concerns over the past few months.
"As far as accounting, we wanted some segregation in duties, which we implemented," says Pierce. "We now reconcile monthly and submit checks to our vendors and victims on a monthly basis instead of more often than that to make sure we reconcile every month."
Auditor Tom Schweich and his office will be returning to McDonald County in the next few months.
