The Joplin High School basketball team spends its Saturday mentoring kids and raising money for a needy family.
The team held a clinic for area children from the ages of kindergarten through sixth grade at South Joplin Middle School, all for donations only.
The money collected from the clinic will be divided down the middle between a single parent family in need and their team.
The Joplin High School head coach says it is something that he plans to make an annual event with his team.
"I think it's a first for these young gentleman to understand what it's like to maybe not have as much and so we're giving it back and that's very gratifying to give back to the community" says Jeff Williams.
Fifty kids attended the clinic and the team raised more than four hundred dollars.
