Donut Shop Closes

A Pittsburg business owner is closing his doors after more than 47 years of business.

Six oh one donut shop at of course -- 601 south Broadway street -- closed it's doors forever today.

Members of the community surprised owner Merle Salsbury -- today for his many years in business.

Salsbury was a little teary eyed but says he's closing shop to retire -- and says he shocked it's over.

"This will be it, this party, I can't believe it," says Salsbury.

Salsbury opened his first donut shot in Pittsburg in august of 19-65.

He has been at this current location since 1993.

Before that time he owned two donut shops in Fort Scott.
