Four States welcomes New Year's babies

Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg welcomed its first 2013 baby shortly after midnight.

Brooklin Nicole weighed in at six pounds and 15 ounces and is the daughter of Tabatha Schoonover.

Brooklin was born four weeks early.

"Huge surprise, we were all kind of in shock - no one was expecting it," says Tabatha Schoonover.

"My husband's little sister was the New Year baby in 1970 and then as we kind of got to talking to my side of the family, my cousin's had a little boy about 10 years ago on - and he was the New Year baby too," says Mylinds Schoonover, Brooklin's grandmother.

Mercy Hospital in Joplin welcomed Max Hasty as their first newborn of the year.  Max weighed seven pounds.  His parents are Kelsea and Michael Hasty.
