Six years ago Senator Roy Blunt and his wife Abigail went to Russia to adopt their son Charlie and now the Senator says he fears others will not be able to do the same.
Russian Resident Vladmir Putin recently signed a law banning Americans from adopting Russian children. Putin also approved a law to improve the care of Russia's orphaned children. Senator Blunt is joining other congressional colleagues, trying to persuade the Russian government to allow adoptions already in process to go through.
"The 46 or so families that are in the process of having identified the child, maybe even having gone to court and having their and had their adoption finalized, but haven't been allowed to pick that child up yet" says Senator Blunt.
Bunt says there are Missouri families that are caught limbo, waiting to pick up a child they have already adopted.
