Joplin Chamber looking for artist to create another mural

Updated:

The Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce Cultural Affairs chairs are looking for an artist to create the third Art in Public Places Mural.

The mural will be located on the 700 block of Main Street on the side of this building and will have a 3-D effect.

The group has released a request for proposal for interested artists to apply and hope to have the mural completed by early summer.

"The concept this year for the mural is based on a trompe l'oeil style which is kind of like a 3-D effect and we've never done that before," says Becky Brill, Co-Chair of the Cultural Affairs committee.  "The reasoning that we did that is simply to provide our citizens, our residents, our students an opportunity to learn about a different art style."

Two completed murals are already located in city hall and on 15th and Main.
