JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Lizzy Jeronimus scored 16 of her game-high 25 points in the second half to power No. 20 ranked Pittsburg State to a 68-59 victory over Lincoln Thursday (Jan. 10) at Jason Gym.
The Gorillas (10-3, 4-1 MIAA) posted their fourth straight victory as well as their fourth straight conference win in knocking off the Blue Tigers (7-6, 2-3 MIAA).
Pitt State held a tenuous 42-38 lead with 13:50 to play in the game but the Gorillas scored nine of the next 11 points to take control of the game.
Jeronimus made nine of 16 shots from the floor in the contest and Pitt State shot 54.5 percent from the field (12 of 22) in the second half.
Morgan Westhoff added 11 points off the bench for the Gorillas, while Drew Roberts added 10 points including a pair of 3-pointers in the contest. Lauren Brown chipped in with seven points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Jackeya Mitchell led a balanced Lincoln squad with 13 points. Dahlia Booker (12), Arriana Walker (10) and Quiessence Price (10) also scored in double figures for the Blue Tigers.
The Gorillas continue a three-game road swing Saturday (Jan. 12) when Pitt State travels to Warrensburg, Mo., to face Central Missouri. Tipoff is set for 1:30 p.m. (CST) at the UCM Multipurpose Building.
