Joplin police investigate shooting

Updated at 10:41 AM CST:  Joplin police say their investigation into a shooting near 12th and Geneva revealed it was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Officials say the individual later died at an area hospital.

Posted January 11, 2013 at 10:41 AM CST:  Joplin police are investigating a Thursday evening shooting near 12th and Geneva - that's by south Range Line Road.

Officers were called to the home there a little after 7 p.m. and found one person with a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Authorities, including the Crime Scene Command Unit, are investigating.

We expect to learn more information today.
