Missouri governor wants more days of school

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon wants more classroom time for students.

Nixon said today he wants to extend Missouri's minimum school year by six days from 174 to 180.

He says keeping children in class longer will help the state economically.

The governor says his proposed budget will call for more funding to the A+ Scholarship Program.

Nixon is traveling to different schools throughout the state to discuss his proposal.
