Carthage House Fire leads to Arrest

Carthage police arrest a man for 1st degree arson, after firefighters respond to a house fire Friday afternoon.

James A. Bryd was arrested Friday night for intentionally setting fire to a house on 1030 Cedar Street in Carthage. Police received the call at 3:15 PM on Friday and say no one was injured in the fire. While only one room in the home was destroyed, several rooms in the house have sustained smoke damage.

"Smoke showing from a residence and firefighters responding immediately. It was determined that the fire was set and fire chief Thompson we just determined that it was intentionally set, and there was some incinary fluid and we have one arrest" says Detective Augie Sanchez.

Bryd was arrested for 1st degree arson and a warrant was obtained with a $5,000 dollar cash or surety bond.
