MSSU Men's and Women's track picks up four titles at MSSU Invite

JOPLIN --  The Missouri Southern men's track and field field team picked up four individual titles in the final day of the 2013 MSSU Invite today in the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.

Jeff Fraley won both the 60m dash and the 400m, picking up provisionals in both events. He improved his national ranking in the 60m with a time of 6.80, while winning the 400m in a time of 50.00. Freshman Erron Holley placed fourth in the 60m with a time of 7.06, while Anthony Price and Clark Tanksley placed third and fourth in the 400m. Tanksley placed second in the high jump with a height of 6-06.75.

Jazz Allen won the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.39, while Miles Migliara won the 800m run with a time of 1:57.35. Logan Garrett was sixth in the 800m. Trey Dorsey, Sam Pogue, and Brandon Martin placed 4-5-6 in the 600 yard, while Andrew Webster and Colton Wooldridge placed third and 10th in the mile.

Michael Juergens placed third in the pole vault with a height of 15-03, while Zach Bobbett and Brady Melugin tied for fifth and Jarret Keller placed ninth in the event. Darion Boure placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 46-02.75, while Dominique Jenkins, Jacob Rowe, JJ Jones and Jayce Thomas finished 3-4-5-6.

Dustin Green was second in the shot put with a provisional distance of 53-11.25, while Evan Moore and Seth Hackney placed third and fifth in the event. Moore had a provisional of his own with a distance of 53-03.00.

Jake Benton, Adrian Todd, and Alex Mason placed 4-5-6 in the 3k, while the Lions took home third and fifth in the 4x400m relay.

The Lions will be back in action next Friday when Southern travels to the University of Missouri.

The Missouri Southern women's track and field team won four events today in the final day of the 2013 MSSU Invite.

Kylie Cornman took home first in the shot put with a provisional distance of 45-00.50. Brittani Reagan was first in the triple jump with a distance of 37-01.25 as the Lions took 1-3 with Mahogany Jones and Shelby Newell placing second and third.

Rachel Schrader won the mile in a time of 5:09.94, while Addie Mengwasser, Jet Hovis and Maggie Tennal placed 7, 10, and 11. Sydney Potts, racing in her first event, won the 800m in a time of 2:20.85.

Amber White and Emily Weldin placed second and third in the 600 yard run, while Whitney Hardy placed fifth. Kaitlyn Belisle and Marlee Tegenkamp placed second and third in the 3k, while Lauren Baehr and Cassy Kendrick were sixth and eighth.

Miriah Johnson was third in the high jump with a height of 5-01.75, while Taylor Alumbaugh, Hardy, Kaylee Morgan and Emily Paullus placed 5,6,7 and 10. Sydney Haase and Melanie Bower both had provisional heights in the pole vault with marks of 11-8, while Ashleigh McFarland placed fourth.

Jasmin Hughes finished fifth in the 60m dish with a time of 7.99, while JeAnna Sheppard, Taitum Mead and Jackie Wallace placed 3-4-5 in the 60m hurdles. Sagan Graskemper placed eighth in the 400m, while JeAnna Sheppard was 11th.

The 4x400m relay team of Hughes, Reagan, White and Weldin placed third with a time of 4:10.6.

The Lions will be back in action next Friday with a meet at the University of Missouri.
