The McDonald County High School band is off to take part in some of the ceremonies for the presidential inauguration.
The band left the high school for our nations capitol today and is representing Missouri.
They are hoping to march in the inaugural parade Monday along Pennsylvania Avenue.
The band auditioned to be a part of the inauguration and received letters of support from across the state, including Governor Jay Nixon.
"I'm super excited," says junior Carley Hendrix. "I'm just really glad that we got this opportunity. Even if we didn't get to march in the parade this is still going to be a good experience for us and for our whole band."
Aside from its performances, the band will also visit several major tourist attractions, including the Smithsonian Institute and the Washington monument.
