Joplin officials discuss transportation improvement projects

Joplin officials met today to discuss a few transportation improvement projects.

The Joplin Area Transportation Study Organization, or JATSO, discussed repairing sidewalks in Carl Junction, Missouri and extend a sidewalk near Memorial Park.

Another project is to connect the MSSU campus to the Northpark Mall by building a walkway and bridge over Turkey Creek.

"Basically, the concept is to bring the pedestrians from the campus of Missouri Southern to the retail areas along Range Line," says David Hertzberg, the Director of Public Works for the City of Joplin.

Officials hope to start that project by the end of the year.
