Doug Buckmaster Named Carl Junction Head Football Coach

Updated:

Carl Junction High School has named Doug Buckmaster as their new head

football coach.

"I am excited to see where Coach Buckmaster will take the school's football

program," said Superintendent Phillip Cook. "He is a proven winner at the high

school and college level and he has experience in building programs. I can't wait

for football season to get started."

Buckmaster is a familiar name in area football. He is currently the Offensive

Coordinator at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami, Oklahoma and

also serves as the College's Discipline Coordinator. Before going to NEO in the

summer of 2011, he was the head coach at Joplin High School from 2005-2010,

head coach at Carthage High School from 2003-2005, offensive coordinator at

NEO A&M from 2001-2003, passing game coordinator at Jenks (OK) in 2000,

head football at Riverton (KS) from 1995-2000.

"I am planning to implement an exciting multiple-offense that spreads the field

while striving for balance in both the running and passing games," said

Buckmaster. "This same aggressive philosophy will carry over to the defense,

allowing us to be a disruptive attack-type defense. Adding to this, a solid, well

executed kicking game will result in an exciting game for both players and fans.

Our teams will be extremely competitive."

During the spring semester, Buckmaster will try to be at Carl Junction High

School as much as possible to get to know the students and staff but he will still

need to fulfill his role at NEO through spring football and recruiting.

"I am very excited to get started at Carl Junction," said Buckmaster. "This is a

fantastic opportunity. My wife, Teresa, and I have lived in Carl Junction for the

past seven years so I am already familiar with the community. I look forward to

bringing a winning tradition home to CJ."

Buckmaster will also be in charge of the weights, strength, and conditioning

programs at Carl Junction High School.
