Downstream Casino and Resort celebrates the grand opening of it's phase two project with the addition of the new Kappa Hotel Tower.
The new tower includes a hotel, bar, café and spa.
The resort says they've helped more than $1 billion has circulated in the community since they opened about five years ago.
But with the new tower, the resort expects to generate about $300 million a year. With the new facility more than 600 jobs were created.
Downstream Development Authority Chairman John Berrey says the new additions set Downstream apart from other casino's in the area.
"There isn't any casino in Oklahoma that has a spa like Née Spa," says Berrey. "Our rooms are very spectacular. What we really hope to do is bring people into the Tri-State area, help the restaurants and hotels in the Joplin area, help the other businesses and just really grow together. That's our real hope."
Berrey says the casino is also looking at the possibility of new entertainment venues.
