
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Pittsburg State sophomore Lizzy Jeronimus was named MIAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Monday (January 21) afternoon.
Despite battling illness, Jeronimus was crucial two Pitt State's two wins on the week, on the road over rival Missouri Southern and at home against nationally-ranked Fort Hays State. Against Missouri Southern, Jeronimus scored 24 points, her eighth 20-point game of the season. She recorded her third double-double of the season versus Fort Hays State on Saturday with 13 points and 13 rebounds. She has now scored in double figures in 22 consecutive games.
Jeronimus shot .650 from the floor last week and .909 from the charity stripe, as she made 10-of-11 free throws.
The Gorillas will play their next three games on the road, but have only one game this week, a midweek battle against Northeastern State, who is also 6-2 in league play on Wednesday (January 23) at 5:30 p.m. in Tahlequah.
