A Northeast Oklahoma plant is laying off employees due to a lack of demand.
The Quapaw based company Umicore Optical Materials met with the 34 employees who were laid off today. The company is offering severance pay to those employees.
The workforce was cut from 137 employees.
Umicore officials say the reason for the layoffs were a result of poor production demand.
The technology plant manufactures and refines germanium, then uses the germanium for solar cells, which are used for solar panels.
