News release issued by Via Christi Hospital
PITTSBURG, Kan. (Jan. 23, 2013) – The Community Entrance to the front of Via Christi Hospital off Centennial (the entry way with the circle drive where the statue sits on the north side of the hospital) will be temporarily closed starting Thursday, January 24. The closure is due to construction of the new Via Christi Surgery Center. A water line that runs near the Community Entrance is being replaced for the Surgery Center project.
"Because of the type of work being performed it is necessary to shut down the driveway and entry way for the safety of our patients, visitors and employees," Via Christi Hospital Director of Public Relations Michael Hayslip said. "We apologize for the inconvenience, and are working to direct people who normally use the Community Entrance through another entry point that is very close by."
In the interim, the double glass doors to the south of the Cancer Center will act as the new entry way for the hospital. Two 4x8 banners will be placed directing people who need assistance to an alternative circle drive, and another indicating which doors should be used. The closure is expected to last until Friday, February 1. All other entry/exit points including the Outpatient Entrance and Emergency Department are not affected.
