February is American Heart Month and construction workers from McCarthy Building Companies at the new Mercy Hospital in Joplin decided to start the month off right by "Going Red" - wearing red shirts on Friday.
It's part of the companies program called Heart Hats to raise awareness of women's heart disease, said to be the number one killer of women.
The construction company is also providing literature and a red carnation for the construction staff in their offices and job sites to bring home to the women they love.
"We've got 200 guys on site right now and they're pulling up and seeing a bunch of people handing them red carnations is going to be a kind of a surprise to them but hopefully that is a little bit of a surprise and they read that information and take it home to the women in their lives," says Steven Meuschke of McCarthy Building Companies.
