The Joplin family YMCA holds it's first Run Day to help expand running potential for those interested.
Seminars throughout the day gave advice about getting involved with races like 5k's, half marathons and full marathons. A yoga class was held in the afternoon to show runners helpful stretches.
Running coach Karen King says when starting up the hobby it's important to do it the right way so you are not prone to accidents.
"As a kid we run because it's fun, we play tag and we get out there and we play but now people have to make more of an effort to stay active and with adults we tend to have more chances of getting injured and so a lot of the things that we teach are ways to help people build their running program to stay injury free" says King.
On March 9th there will be a half marathon class at 7:00 AM and an "Anyone Can Run" class at 10:00AM.
