More pay could come for doctors and other medical professionals under Missouri Governor Jay Nixon's plan to expand medicaid.
The governor's budget plan outlined this week includes $908 million dollars of federal money to add more than 260 thousand low income adults to medicaid rolls. $82 million of that would be used to increase reimbursement rates for medical providers. Under the plan the state would pay rates similar to private insurance instead of they typically lower rates paid by medicaid. Hopefully enticing more doctors to accept medicaid patients.
