Coffeyville Resources to pay $2.3M for 2007 oil spill

Updated:

Coffeyville Resources Refining and Marketing has agreed to pay more than $2.3 million in penalties and clean-up costs from an oil spill when the city flooded in 2007.

More than 2,100 barrels of oil and fuel spilled into the Verdigris River during the flood.

More than $565,000 will settle the violations of the Clean Water Act and rest of the money will reimburse the federal government's cost of cleaning up the river.
