A prayer released by a religious group in Topeka that counsels state lawmakers is sparking some controversy.
The organization called Capitol Commission is asking for politicians to target prayers towards Southeast Kansas along with Lawrence, Kansas City, and north Johnson County.
The organization calls these areas "dark spiritual areas."
Some lawmakers say the prayer crosses the line by picking on Democratic parts of the state.
However, some church leaders say the prayer is nothing more than asking for help with the economy.
"Perception becomes reality and so the reality to those that are offended is, that the perception is, that they're picking on certain areas where Democratic strongholds exist," says Jay Lotterer of the Covenant Harvest Church in Pittsburg.
