If you're a fan of Disney's and Pixar's movie "Cars" you'll be happy to hear the Sheriff of Radiator Springs makes a pit stop in south east Kansas.
The voice of the Sheriff Michael Wallis stopped for an autograph signing in Galena at the Streetcar Station Coffee Shop. His books Route 66: The Mother Road and David Crockett: The Lion of the West were also sold at the shop. Wallis is a writers hall of fame of America inductee and helped found the Route 66 Alliance.
He says Galena is a shinning example of what the rest of the route should look like.
"I'm so impressed with what galena has done in the last year, year and a half and for me a champion of Route 66 preservation, this is a great example of what other small towns between Chicago and Santa Monica can do" says Wallis.
Wallis plans on coming back to town for the International Route 66 Festival the 1st weekend of August.
Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves. Galena Police Chief Larry Delmont and Galena Mayor Dale Oglesby also showed up to say hi to the other Sheriff in town.
