Missouri Senator Blunt for expansion of Mental Healthcare - KOAM TV 7

Missouri Senator Blunt for expansion of Mental Healthcare

Updated:

Missouri Senator Roy Blunt tours a health center in St. Louis, announcing his support for expanding mental healthcare. Less than a third of Americans with diagnosable mental illness actually get treatment. By offering physical and mental health care services in the same building, patients are more likely to get the help they need.

Senator Blunt toured The People's Health Center Friday and says the concept makes sense.

He also says he thinks it could be expanded at a cost of about $2 million dollars per state.

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon is also calling for more state spending on mental health care, some $10 million dollars in the coming budget.
